JUNIOR ACADEMY (U11-U14)
JUNIOR ACADEMY OVERVIEW
The Junior Academy is where our technical staff continues to build the technical foundation of our players while introducing advanced tactical concepts through a phased approach.
The two phases of the Junior Academy are PREPARATION and FORMATION.
The Preparation Phase (U11-U12) establishes the technical proficiency, tactical awareness, and decision making foundation required for the Formation Phase (U13-U14). At the Formation Phase, players are expected to learn and operate within team systems with a shift towards, tactical discipline, game management, and role-specific decision-making.
TRAINING EXPECTATIONS
Junior Academy players train 3 days per week at one of our training centers. BOYS train at CG Woodson HS. GIRLS train at Robinson Secondary School.
COACHING STAFF
BRYC is proud of our dedicated Junior Academy staff. This staff works tirelessly to impact the local community by fostering youth development through soccer, cultivating teamwork, discipline, and confidence in young athletes. Our staff not only hones players' skills but also promotes a culture of inclusivity, engaging families and inspiring future generations to thrive on and off the field.
TALENT ID PATHWAY
BRYC Academy's Talent ID Pathway is designed to start early (U8), track consistently (U9-U11) and advance the best performers into the Advanced Development Program (ADP).
This means BRYC Academy players get additional chances to be seen by Fairfax VA Union (FVU) Staff in real training and game settings, not just at one-off tryouts. The FVU Staff is watching the development over time - not making final decisions overnight. Even if a player isn't selected immediately, the system emphasizes progression, so steady improvement can change outcomes year-to-year.
If your player stands out, there's a defined progression from BRYC environments into FVU.
